Launching Electrigirl – party and events!

The week has passed in a blur! Last Friday, I spent most of the day with Cathy Brett (Electrigirl illustrator extraordinaire) and Cas Lester (author of Wilfred the (Un)wise) as we launched our books on an unsuspecting world! (actually, pretty much everyone WAS expecting it, because I’d gone on about it so much…)

The three of us spent the afternoon at Edward Feild School, making superhero masks and writing comic strips with Y5 and 6 – and then we went on to Blackwells bookshop in the evening, where over 150 people turned up to wish us well and buy copies! It was the most fantastic fun – and no sooner had I recovered from that then I was off on Monday to Bury St Edmunds, where I visited six schools over two days and got hundreds of kids making whooshing noises and acting out being electrons – and now, predictably, I’m ill! But that’s OK, because all the fun stuff is DONE and it went brilliantly, and now I have time to recover before the next round of events centred around World Book Day begins.

Below is a selection of photos from the launch at Blackwells – many thanks to Sarah Blizzard for being official photographer of the evening! And massive thanks to everyone who came and supported us – we felt very, very lucky.

...just like the cake Cathy designed for a blog post we wrote! Only ours had added stars and a Bag of Bees, to celebrate Wilfred (an apprentice wizard) too!
